Well-associated with the 90’s San Francisco skateboarding scene, Mike Carroll and Rick Howard decided that a better formula was needed for what had become an uninspiring industry. Feeling that they owed it to skateboarding and the skaters of the time, the pair took the plunge and went about establishing Lakai.

And so in 1999, Lakai Footwear was launched with the mantra ‘The Shoes We Skate’ and pulled together the effort and dedication they put into skating, and channelled this into a brand that skaters could be proud of.
